Coaxial cable assemblies are often the most overlooked part of a long range networking link and they could mean the difference between having your system work or not at all.

Since RF (Radio frequency) is passing from the radio (router, USB Adapters, AP) to the antenna; it will lose signal strength (measured in dB) over the cable run. This is called attenuation.

To combat this issue, using the shortest cable run possible is ideal. After that the thickness of the cable insulation plays a major role in how much signal quality is maintain through your network.

 

Choosing Connectors

Outdoor Antennas

Outdoor antennas have N-Female Connectors. So you will need a cable with N-Male on a side.

 

 

Indoor Antennas

Indoor connections usually involve SMA-RP (Reverse Polarity) Connectors. Our indoors are made to this spec.

 

Extensions

Need more cable? Use a cable extensions with alternating connector genders.

 

 

Signal quality and strength decreases with every extra foot of cable you run. For that reason we suggest using the L-400 type cable which is 0.4" thick and has much more RF insulation compared to other options.

For shorter cable runs that still demand performance, the mid range L-240 cable saves you a few bucks and it's more flexible making it easier to manager.

Maximum suggested cable run is 20 FT.

The best cable for short pigtails.

The L-195 cable is ideal for short cable runs up to 10 FT. This cable is great for short pigtails, such as connecting an antenna to a thicker and longer cable run.

This cable is highly flexible and much easier to manage than the L-400 counterpart - but much more lossy.
